I celebrated my 30th birthday in Cartagena. I woke up feeling young and happy, and if anything, more energetic than the last few days as 29! Turning thirty is a big milestone. If you had asked me 10 years ago where I saw myself at 30, it was not taking a 6 months hiatus from work and travelling through Latin America.

I was surprised that instead of worrying about the grey hair and aching joints that are bound to come, I found myself reflecting on my accomplishments and everything I have to be grateful for - which is a lot! Traveling has a way of putting things in perspective. Now more than ever, I view age as just a number, rather than a defining point. I feel proud of the path I am on, and am so thrilled to have the opportunity to continue exploring and learning new things about myself, others, and the world!

Here I am enjoying a latte at Abacus Books & Coffee on my 30th birthday. "Love in the Time of Cholera" was a fitting gift given our travels through Colombia!
